Facilities Plan, Industrial Design

The Department of Facilities Planning and Industrial Design plays a strategic role in shaping efficient, sustainable, and human-centered built environments. With an interdisciplinary foundation, the department integrates architecture, engineering, environmental science, chemical engineer, product development engineers, biochemical engineers and design thinking to deliver innovative infrastructure solutions aligned with modern industrial, social, and ecological demands.

Its mission is to develop intelligent facility layouts and systems that maximize productivity, minimize environmental impact, and enhance user experience, whether for industrial plants, research centers, educational spaces, or public infrastructure. By applying principles of sustainable design, circular economy, and energy efficiency, the department ensures that every facility aligns with both operational goals and sustainability targets, including the European Green Deal, ISO 50001 (energy efficiency solutions) and SDGs.

In the area of industrial design, the department develops functional, ergonomic, and scalable solutions tailored to evolving production needs, integrating digital tools like ASPEN+, CAD/CAM, BIM, Open LCA etc., and smart manufacturing platforms. It works closely with R&D, industry stakeholders and policymakers to co-create environments and systems that are both technically advanced and socially responsible.
